I guess I consider myself one of the luckier returning Emory students. I'm a junior....gasp...horror...Where did the past two years go? Fortunately, I'm an orientation leader! It makes me feel young again, being like a new freshman. And by young, I mean like 18. I'm only 20!
All of the new freshmen are so fun! I've had a great time with my orientation group. We've discussed everything from classes, professors, life at Emory, social stuff, and the miscellaneous things like Pasta John, Wonderful Wednesdays, Emory traditions, etc. Yesterday, I helped out a ton of freshman, transfer students, and Oxford continuees with their schedules. Hopefully, everyone gets the classes that they want.
The students loved the hypnotist the other night! The same hypnotist has been coming here for years during orientation with the same routine, but every year, it's hilarious! The David Hasselhoff inpersonator was hysterical this time! I almost fell out of the pew laughing while I was listening to him.
Tonight, I'm so excited for Best in Show! Best in Show is a late night Emory program during orientation that showcases all of Emory's cultural groups, acapella groups, dance teams, comedy and theatre groups. I remember Best in Show being my favorite night of the beginning of my freshman year. It was the ah-ha moment of my first year, when you know positively that you made the right decision about where you went to college.
I'll get back to you on how Best in Show goes. I'm pretty psyched about tonight! Hopefully, the freshmen are too. Last year it was so packed, that this year, we are handing out tickets. I'm pretty sure that is a sign that it's very popular!

Another Emory year begins soon!
Well, I've been on vacation for the past two weeks without a computer! My parents wanted a technology free vacation, minus cell phones which are a necessity.
Anyways, another year at Emory is coming around faster than I can believe. It's official, I am half way through my college education. The time has flown by! I guess that's a good thing though, considering it means that I loved being here. I'm an orientation leader so I get to go back on campus with freshmen. I'm sure you will see me around.
Orientation is a really fun part of freshman year. You get to meet a lot of people in your group and actually become really close to some of them. I have a lot of friends who were in my orientation/FAME group. The week can be exhausting though.
We have a lot of great things in store for the freshman class in the next couple of weeks. The start of Emory is always eventful. Everyone moving in, parents with their cars everywhere. Project Move-In people with their brown look-a-like UPS shirts carrying crates of stuff all throughout campus. The Coca-Cola toast to commence every year. It's all something to experience!
I can't wait for it to start! But I think after it's all over, I'm going to need 72 hours at least to recover!
